Bihar’s Darbhanga Airport soon to connect with Metro cities and with an objective to connect underserved and un-served airports, Airports Authority of India is developing civil enclave at Darbhanga and under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) soon commencement of civil flight operations to start for Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The land was handed over the Airports Authority of India by the IAF For the development of interim civil enclave which includes pre-fab terminal. Other construction includes facilities such as car parking, road network, runways and dispersal area to cater to the intended aircraft, construction of a link taxi track, at the cost of Rs 92 crore.

The foundation of Interim Civil Enclave was laid by in the year 2018 by Honourable Chief Minister Shri Nitesh Kumar. The area of the Interim Terminal Building of the airport is of 140 sq m and has been completed. The terminal building will be able to handle to approx 100 passengers in peak hours, well-equipped with all amenities to facilitate passengers. There are six check-in counters and also the work for strengthening of the runway for accommodating Boeing 737-800 type of aircraft is on full swing. Apart from this, construction of new Apron with connecting taxiway and connecting road is also under process. Soon, the airport will be ready for civil operations and connecting the city to three top metros.
