Survey: 63 per cent geared to travel within 3 months of relaxation

The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has recently conducted a survey on a limited sample of 250 respondents. The survey was conducted online due to COVID-19 crisis, across Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The conclusion of the survey says that 63 per cent of people in northern India are gearing to travel within three months of relaxation of the lockdown. On the other hand, the survey also mentions that most of them have ruled out any international travel.

The findings of the survey also says that post lockdown hygiene standards adopted by the hotels will be the most important deciding factor for tourists. Also, 68 per cent of the respondents agreed to the same. In the same time, around 59 per cent said that wearing protective gear will be the most important precaution they would take during travel and lastly one fifth respondents preferred Arogya Setu App as an ideal choice.

Whereas two third would like to resume travel within three months of relaxation of the lockdown and according to approx 17 per cent travel have been an important means of rejuvenation. 33 per cent are likely to travel within a month whereas 30 per cent would wait for three months and 7 per cent said they would prefer to wait for a year.

The survey also said that 70 per cent would prefer domestic travel; one fourth would travel both within India and abroad, only 1.4 per cent has shown interest for overseas travel.  The survey also put forward that 37.4 per cent are likely to travel for business, 32 per cent could plan outings and 2.4 per cent would make advance bookings.
